When a child is at-risk it means they are less likely to transition successfully into adulthood. Risk factors may include a lack of supervision, an unstable home life, substance abuse, poor school attendance, cognitive delays, mental health issues, abuse/neglect or low self esteem. Most of us could have been considered at-risk at various times in our own lives and if we hadn't had that one person or program we might have gone down different roads.
